Hi! Let me tell you something more about my self.

I was born in 1981 in St. Miguel, AZORES. I was presented to my first guitar at the age of thirteen in a folk dance group. After learning the first chords I continued to work self-taught until I composed my first theme, two years later, encouraged by a friend who gave me a few of her poems.

At the age of eighteen I founded a children's choir in the parish of my home village and worked as conductor for ten years. Learning and teaching instruments used by those same children, such as: acoustic guitar, electric guitar, flute, accordion, drums, mandolin, among others.

In July 2003 I was invited by the playwright Sonia Sousa to play "a teenager's dream" embodying the character "Julie" (a street artist), presenting an original song for the first time, on stage.

For a period of two years I was part of the Choir named Tibério Franco, where I learned and improved my vocal technique, helping me to rediscover sounds that I would later use for my personal work.

After that, I was part of a salsa band as a vocalist, accepting the challenge of a very different experience from my personal tastes. But it helped me a lot to face the audience.

Throughout this time and experiences I continued nurturing the dream of recording a solo album of originals and Tó Moreira (as my first producer) managed my to finally get my dream closer to reality.

Already with a demo, I was introduced to Puto Ems and began working with him on many levels, which led to new knowledge about other musical tastes. Although being encouraged to create within this genre, and ultimately to inform the world about it, I kept on showing my true self... the one that brought me up to today.

  • My first album "ESPELHOS" (Mirrors) released on September 18th 2011 at Teatro Ribeiragrandense, is the first in Portugal within that genre: mixing hip-hop (Puto Ems) and singer songwriting with acoustic guitar (Sonasfly).

  • October 2012: my video "Carousel" was nominated for BEST VIDEO DIY (Do It Yourself) in the international RightOut TV Music & Video awards.

  • On October 29th, I was the winner of the FAN FAVE AWARDS category on RightOut TV Music & Video awards.

  • “O Outro Lado de Mim” (The Other Side of Me) released on December  1st, at Luís de Camões auditorium, was no longer an acoustic performance. I gave voice, not only to my most recent work, but also to new versions of some themes of my first album. This is where I let my self fly between Pop, Gothic Rock, Ballad, Hip-Hop and Funk.

  • October 2013: my video "God" was nominated for BEST VIDEO DIY (Do It Yourself) in the international RightOut TV Music & Video awards.

  • September 2014: 100% Human, in Coliseu Micaelense with many work teams (from voice, music, acting -theater group “A Pontilha” - and image) as a pre-release of my latest album.

At this moment, and going in a certain way, back in time, I have a project with a great musician and friend.
"Sonasfly & Emanuel Paquete", is a way to re-present all my work, where I go os stage on a semi-acoustic format and present the audience with themes from the three albums that reflect the person I am today.
